Silent Spaces

These unseen spaces are where the hidden trauma of community and family reside. They carry mystery, tension, and a cold atmosphere. I am interested in the Irish society and how secretive it can be; family feuds, farms being divided, illness and more being kept from children, parents, siblings and the community. In these rural spaces, communities can be very close and as a result secretive behaviours form. Secrets of the family home can spread like wildfire through rumour, leaving a cold atmosphere caused by a culture of silence. By presenting these hidden rural spaces in the white cube urban setting, the viewer can witness and experience rural issues that rarely leave the family home.
