My Utopia

My practice focuses on creating non-existent places by bringing together already existing buildings from different locations into one site. By developing collages into 3D sculptures, I create simple forms which allow viewers to physically walk around them, to view them closely, and to gain different perspectives.
My work brings together buildings from my home town of Kretinga in Lithuania with buildings in Dublin and Drogheda, which have become my second home. The idea of creating a place which doesn’t exist stems from the question “‘why not?”. Why can’t a place which combines all the countries we have lived in and the experiences we have had, exist as a single city?
