My practice revolves around social media, the internet, technology and our ever-growing relationship with them. I am exploring “click-bait” material targeted towards children and teens and the potential danger it exposes young people to. “Click-bait” is a form of false advertisement, designed to attract attention and entice viewers by sensationalising the title or thumbnail.
These videos contain misinformation or encourage use of dangerous substances/ tools which can be harmful to young naive viewers. I want to highlight the potential danger it exposes young people to and to explore and play with the performative aspect of these videos.
Through the use of moving image, photography and Photoshop, I explore the effects social media and technology has on our everyday lives.
