'Colourfully Conscious' is a collection of luxurious hand-woven, knit, hand-knit and digital print fabrics for a Womenswear Resort Collection 20/21. Each piece is individual, handmade and 100% natural, making it a unique colourful collection.
It is inspired by Moroccan culture, geometric patterns and environmental issues within the fashion and textile industry. It explores traditional Moroccan indigenous Berber handmade woven rug-making techniques. Recycling, Re-using, and Reducing are key sustainable elements for this concept. I sourced dead-stock waste yarns from a local Irish weaving company, which would have gone straight to landfill. I achieved reduced waste dyeing by a responsible dyeing process – exhaust dyeing, so no leftover dyes go to waste!
Documenting these sustainable practices is a way of communicating better practices that can be adopted by the textile industry. Colourfully Conscious is a collection that promotes slow fashion awareness and is aimed at the consumer who is fashion-conscious.
