The Inner Terrain

‘The Inner Terrain’ refers to the territory of the self, a connection between the psychological and the physical influencing how we feel and behave. As a result of Lockdown protocols, notions of "home" are now being reinvented as places that need to be static, secure, and a sanctuary.
Throughout my work, I attempt to bring the outside world in as a result of the forced incarceration, limiting our access to nature and the outside world. The purpose of my work is intended to change the ambiance of indoor space, paying tribute to the natural world, which may not be as accessible during these difficult times.
Introducing interactive wallpapering through projective video, upcycling old furniture, using material processes and print designs, I was forced to work with the resources I had to hand, where there was a more intimate narration. My work was intended to act as a shield to distract from unpredictability and lurking chaos the Covid-19 pandemic brings forth. While making no attempt to portray realistic plants or animals, my work depicts an abstract view of the natural world through mark making and colour theory
