A Man's World

On the courts, the subject of a woman's role in sports - and the huge gap between opportunities, funding and media exposure given to males and females in the sporting world - is symbolic of the larger question on gender equality today: is equal really equal? The aim of my project is to make a difference to the athletic lives of young girls who don’t have support at a grassroots level and to raise awareness about women in sport and its impact in terms of health, empowerment and positive role models for women and girls around the world. I want to be a part of the change that is slowly happening in the sporting world where girls are being encouraged, supported and included in sport. I look forward to the day we discuss sport, not ‘women’s’ sport.
