"INCONVENIENCE STORE"

"InConvenience Store has the best deals on all your grocery goods, especially our own range of luxury honey, coffee and chocolate, all FairTrade of course."

The ‘InConvenience Store’ was part of The Change Lab gallery exhibition, where groups of student teachers created work that reflected themes of stewardship.
Our piece explored consumerism and the exploitation of food producers and nature. The products for sale were connected by the discoveries of honey products being filled with sugar syrup and illegal farming of cocoa and coffee beans on nature reserve lands for profit. Information on the reality of these goods could be read on the label of the products if people picked them up to read a little closer.
This witty installation challenged the audience to question the legitimacy and ethical values of the foods they purchase and look beyond the price tag.
