Faro

Children today are considerably more tech savvy than the generations before them, but their reliance on technology has led them to structure their daily lives around it. Current apps designed to limit ‘screen time’ tend to be based on parental interaction and rarely consider the child’s side of things. How might we develop a compromise between children and parents for screen time and non-screen based activities? How might we develop an opportunity for children to realise and explore other activities away from their tablets?
‘Faro’ aims to contrast the habitual familiarities children have developed with their tablets. It also gives the parent an opportunity to feel more in control over the situation, while allowing the child to have their say too. Faro is an analog intervention in the form of a lighthouse with a complimenting app that provides control over the intervention.
