Let's Dance

‘Let’s Dance’ is a three part project that celebrates the history of Irish club culture, documents its persistence during the Lockdown and speculates on the uncertain future that lies ahead for the scene amidst a global pandemic. Ireland’s club scene’s history is hailed in the form of a wheatpasted pop-up exhibition of posters and ephemera, done within the 5km radius of my home in response to the closure of gallery spaces. The current rapid changeover from clubbing to virtual parties on Zoom is documented in the form of a newspaper, its content featuring personal screenshots and conversations from Zoom parties attended by my friends and I. The final part of the project contemplates the future of the club scene as we move into the ‘new normal’ in a post-pandemic world and how we could work around social distancing measures to keep the scene alive.
