Streets

My project focuses on bringing recognition to homelessness in Dublin, in particular, street homelessness. Rough sleepers are the visible homeless many of us see on a day-to-day basis. I wanted this project to use straightforward design that would resonate with viewers as a familiar piece, but upon looking closer, it’s not quite as basic as it seems. I wanted to highlight the lack of basic amenities and personal belongings that many of us take for granted in everyday life, that homeless people do not have.

1. Passing by. This is an overlapping of peoples interaction with the poster.

2. Placement. Each poster was placed in the way we would generally see many homeless people set up.

3. Home. The perspective of seeing a homeless person sit on the ground on a rainy day in Dublin, meters from my poster is a big reflection on that this is what is considered their home.

4. Crane. The scale of the buildings in the background contrasting with the posters merely placed against the wall, reflecting the life of a homeless person.
