Mae Nicolaou lives and works in Dublin. As a form of research, Mae is interested in arbitrary, incompatible static objects, often come upon by chance in the urban environment. These moments of recognition are visually significant within her practice. She is also interested in the futility of daily maintenance tasks. In order to draw attention to their repetitive nature, Mae focuses on taking such situations to a point of absurdity. Using purposeful placement, altering context and circumstance, objects can then perform in a way that is at odds with their true function.
