Katie Whyte is a Kildare based Media artist. In this work she explores and represents the process of physical and perceptual degradation of an object.
In 1969 a student protest took place in NCAD sparked by frustrations with the classical style of art teaching at the time. This resulted in nineteen of the College's antique plaster casts of famous Renaissance sculptures being smashed.
These installation pieces employ the use of glitch as a tool to portray the journey of how these statues have come to be broken and forgotten.
This work, originally an installation piece, has been created in a 3D space in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
