In this project I explored the beautiful moments in everyday life through photography, painting and film. Painting on large boards and pieces of Styrofoam, my chosen supports contrast with my subject matter: everyday domestic scenes featuring sinks, dirt, dust, or spilt coffee. My medium is acrylic paint mixed with house dust and coffee.
Over the last few months our everyday has shifted. From social engagements to everyday work, our world has significantly changed. While the “new normal” everyday is more insular, anxious, claustrophobic and detached, it is juxtaposed by contacts and renewed calls with old friends, the opportunities we have to spend more time with our kids, go for walks on the beach, slow down our pace of life, plant vegetables in the garden, play board games, and notice the small moments of beauty in the everyday.
