Still Home

This year, I began my work with the inquiry, “what is a photograph now?”. This lead to me exploring my own relationship with the photograph, specifically in the context of its ubiquity.

Using analogue photography as a mechanism to slow me down, the photograph becomes more about the encounter, the sense of the moment captured, than the image itself.

I seek to capture light, and the sense of calm and presence it brings me. Light transforms the mundane into the spectacular, momentarily. The temporal and fleeting nature of these moments demand pause, and the manual process of analogue photography demands the same. Through seeking out these moments, and practicing stillness in capturing them, my hope for the work is that it provides similar conditions for the audience.
