‘Pieta’ explores how myth and stories are created to satisfy individuals or groups of people, or to project a particular narrative in a wider society, and also within families. Stories are created that never happened, like the Pieta scene. I wanted to use this well-known monumental sculpture to explore the idea, like this scene, that never took place in reality, yet it is revered. The piece is created from wax and paper to represent myths and stories that can carry a lot of weight, but when examined are often flimsy.
