During my visit to The United Arab Emirates, the young Muslim women I met there expressed to me their love of their Muslim culture and the modest aesthetic that goes with it. However, they also felt like they had to compromise when it came to following their culture and religious values and following fashion trends, which inspired me to create a collection of scarves, hijabs and modest-silhouette clothing. I was inspired by the architecture found in the cityscape of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Dublin to create an all year-round available Collection for the Modern Modest Woman. My collection focuses on tone, simplicity, linear qualities, opacity, and matte/shiny qualities using reactive pigments, devore, foils and flock techniques on digital and screen prints.
