Placeless

Interruption//Traces//Separate//Displacement

This work embodies a notion of fluidity between places which I inhabit. The photographs denote the traces we leave within transient places of dwelling. They create a conversation between places which are personal to me and that I find myself between on a day-to-day basis. There is a tension between the surfaces that the lens examines, as if the materials are seeking some sort of balance or harmony. The images depict a sense of distance between the viewer and the surface. These images feel familiar, yet are abstracted and scrutinised, to the point that the viewer becomes detached from them. The materiality of the surfaces creates a veil between the viewer and the permanence of the place.
