You are in the back of your parents car. Your father is driving, your mother in the passenger seat. You are being a moody teenager, so naturally you have your headphones on. You’re driving through the wild Donegal hills. The sun is shining and the air is kissed by a breeze. Window down, you’re taking in the view. ‘Have You Seen Her Face’ by The Byrds plays on repeat. You start crying.
The artist has made an attempt to materialise a memory, by fusing together photographic elements from the places around her, which are a part of the essence of landscape. Aware of the romantic zeitgeist of landscape photography, she has produced this current body of work alongside concerns about the Anthropocene, and histories of the Irish landscape, using traditional photography methods. Ideas surrounding nature and its future have also played a role in the decision making behind her art practice
