Remains

My creative practice explores landscape and place using mixed media, print, painting, textiles and sculptural processes.
I am drawn to the remnants of things, from the skeletal remains of flowers and trees in winter, to neglected farm buildings and vernacular cottages. I am also drawn to the remnants and traces that we humans leave behind and how frequently those traces of our lives are very minimal.
I am interested in the form and character of unremarkable or overlooked structures, both rural and urban. The struts and cables of a contemporary bridge, old iron gates held upright with baling twine, corrugated metal sheds taking on a patina of age, oxide coloured hay barns and the rich texture of rusted metal, are inspirational.
