‘Ahimsa’ is the Sanskrit word for NON-VIOLENCE, and that is the centre of my work ethic. Gaia, Mother Nature, has blessed us with a world full of resources and so, a non-violent sustainable way is the ONLY WAY that my soul will ever be at peace.
Our natural world is trending towards destruction due to lack of empathy and thought in the actions of our species. With my designs, I want to express a mutual dialogue between me and Gaia, that I believe is necessary for her survival. This dialogue is fuelled by LOVE, RESPECT and COMPASSION.
Ahimsa collection is inspired by Mother Nature, her amazing gifts and creations. My designs explore various silhouettes, using very simple oversized shapes, manipulated by ruching and gathering. The designs also feature complex knit patterns that are reminiscent of fishing nets, cocoons and their formations. As an extension to this dialogue, all the materials used are organic, sustainable, ethical or recycled.
I believe that fashion driven by GOODNESS, KINDNESS and PURE INTENTIONS is the only way forward. By preserving Gaia, we help ourselves mostly as her inhabitants.
